Which states do you serve?

We serve clients remotely across all 50 states, including individuals and businesses with federal, state, and multi-state tax needs.

Do you work with new businesses?

Yes. We help entrepreneurs with business formation, EIN applications, tax registrations, and accounting setup from day one.

Do you offer bookkeeping and payroll support?

Yes. We provide QuickBooks bookkeeping, bank reconciliation, financial statement preparation, payroll tax filings, W-2 and 1099 preparation, and payroll compliance support.

Can you help with an IRS or state tax notice?

Yes. We assist clients in understanding and responding to IRS and state tax notices. Please contact us with the details of your notice.

Can you help form an LLC or corporation?

Yes. We assist with EIN applications, state business registration, sales tax registration, and annual compliance filings.

Do you help nonprofit organizations?

Yes. We support nonprofit formation, 501(c)(3) applications, Form 990-N and Form 990-EZ preparation, state charitable registration, and ongoing compliance.

Do you offer ITIN services?

Yes. We assist with ITIN applications, Form W-7 preparation, and tax filing connected to ITIN applications. We are an IRS Acceptance Agent.

How are fees determined?

Our fees are based on the complexity of the work, the number of forms required, the condition of the records, and the level of support needed. We will discuss the scope of work and provide fee information before beginning services.

How can I send documents to Cheong & Co.?

You can send documents to us by email. For sensitive materials such as tax returns, Social Security numbers, or bank statements, please contact us first and we will provide secure document-upload instructions so you can submit your files safely.

Do you offer appointments in person and remotely?

Yes. We offer in-person appointments at our Flushing, Queens office and remote appointments by phone or video for clients who prefer it.

Which languages do you speak?

We serve clients in English and Chinese.

Do you handle sales tax registration and filing?

Yes. We help retail stores, restaurants, e-commerce sellers, and other taxable businesses register for state sales tax and file periodic returns. If you are unsure whether your business needs to collect sales tax in your state, contact us and we can help you determine your obligations.

What documents do I need to prepare for tax filing?

The documents needed depend on your situation. For individual returns, common items include: W-2 and 1099 forms, investment income statements (1099-B, 1099-DIV, etc.), mortgage interest (Form 1098), medical expenses, and charitable donation receipts. For business returns, we typically need bookkeeping records, profit & loss statements, asset information, and the prior year return. We will provide a detailed document checklist when you schedule your appointment.

Can you help with foreign income or overseas account reporting (FBAR)?

We provide basic tax support for clients who have foreign income or overseas financial accounts. If you hold foreign bank accounts, you may be required to file FinCEN 114 (FBAR) and/or IRS Form 8938. Please mention this when you contact us so we can assess your specific situation.
